Finding a home shouldn’t
cost you your peace of mind.

Too often, finding a place means chasing leads, risking money and making big decisions with too little information. These are the everyday frustrations we’re building Homy to solve.

A different reality.

Fake photos, homes that don’t exist and listings for units that are already occupied. A promising lead becomes another wasted visit.

Fees that lead nowhere.

Exaggerated viewing and booking fees. Brokers showing fake houses or disappearing after being paid.

Weeks turn into months.

Endless calls, repeat visits and dead ends make house hunting take over your evenings, weekends and peace of mind.

You decide. The unit is gone.

You find a place, take a little time to think, then learn it’s been rented to someone else. The search starts all over again.

Surprises after moving in.

Water shortages, security concerns and neighbourhood issues only become clear after you move. You should know what everyday life will look like sooner.

WHY WE’RE BUILDING HOMY

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Before we say hello.

When is Homy launching?

We’re preparing for launch. A date hasn’t been announced yet. Join the launch list for updates when there’s news.

Which homes will be included first?

The MVP focuses on studios and one-bedroom homes around Nairobi, beginning with the Thika Road corridor.

What’s the difference between Reserve and Book?

Reserve is a protected hold with a 12-hour default. Choose your duration in 12-hour blocks at KES 500 per block. If you upgrade during the active hold, 80% of your reservation payment is credited toward the booking total. Book confirms a home with full rent and deposit, with move-in within 5 days. Homy reviews the request within your selected hold period. The reservation PDF and landlord contacts are released after acceptance and payment approval. A valid hold cannot be overridden by another renter.

Can landlords join the launch list?

Yes. Choose “I’m a landlord” in the signup form and leave your preferred neighbourhood. Homy’s demo includes property listings and individual unit views.

What does a Homy-verified listing mean?

Homy checks the home, its photos and its availability before marking a listing as verified. The listing will also help you understand the unit’s condition, water availability and the surrounding area.

How much does it cost to reserve a unit?

The default hold is 12 hours for KES 500. Choose a longer duration in 12-hour blocks and your reservation fee is calculated automatically before you submit your request.

What happens after I request a reservation?

Homy receives your request and can accept or decline it within your selected reservation period. When the rental platform launches, you’ll be able to follow its status in your Homy account. Your reservation contract and landlord contacts become available only after the request is accepted and payment is approved.

Can another renter take a unit during my active hold?

An active reservation protects the unit from competing reservations and bookings until the hold expires. A pending request is awaiting review; check its status before making plans.

Does my reservation payment count toward booking?

Yes. If you upgrade an active reservation to a booking, 80% of the amount paid for the reservation is credited toward your booking total. The remaining balance is shown before you confirm.

What can I learn about a neighbourhood before moving?

Explore water availability, power reliability, area security information, travel time to the CBD and distance to the main road. Listings also include distances to nearby gyms, hospitals, police posts, shopping markets and schools.

When can I move in after booking?

Choose an available move-in date within 5 days when you book. Review the unit details, rent, deposit and booking terms before confirming your choice.
